Well we closed on the sale of our home in Michigan today. it was very bitter sweet but also a huge relief. No more double payments of rent and mortgage. That was a big strain on our budget this past year. Boy was I glad to sign those papers and be done with the whole business. The people who bought are house are as helpless as little babies. They even went so far as to ask us to light the pilot light on the water heater! UM, how about NO! Really? I mean come on! I'm no Norm Abrahms but even I know how to do that.
Anyway, I was happy and sad to get rid of the house. It was our first house. We had our first child there. Sofie took her first steps there. It was the first place we figured out how to be parents. We hosted our first Thanksgiving as a family there. The list could go on but you get the picture. Fortunately, I am such a crazy person with a camera that we captured many of these firsts on film. But time moves on and now we can think about other things besides the care and maintenance of a house that is 1300 miles from where we actually live.
So yes it's bitter sweet but time moves on and things change and that is ok.

Long time gone.
Well it has been a long time since I last posted. We have been so busy I can hardly believe a month has went by since my last post.
Today is my and my husband's 6th wedding anniversary and we are enjoying a night away from our normal lives at a nice hotel. We were so excited to have a night to ourselves we could hardly wait. That in itself is really sad! But it is nice to go away for a night and know that you daughter is well taken care of and being spoiled rotten by her grandparents. So far we have watched TV, gambled a little money at a casino and at lunch at Arby's. Do we know how to live or what?
It is funny how some people spend a night or 2 away from their children. You would think it would entail a lot of wild passionate sex and other forms of debauchery but in reality I think it is more like sleep and uninterrupted leisure time reading and watching TV or messing around on the computer with out a little voice saying "mom, I need to go potty, I'm hungry, come look at this, what cha doin, can I have some of that etc. etc." funny how those little things become so precious when you can do them in relative peace.
The flip side of the coin is that my husband and I come home refreshed and excited to see our little pumpkin again. We enjoy our time reliving what it was like before kids but we really like the coming home to her smiling face part too.

This blog is a way for me to share the ups and downs of being a parent and to give me a place to vent about the frustrations of raising a child. It is also a place to chronicle all the fun times and little miracles of parenthood.
