Psalm 118:24

"Today is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it." The bible has many scriptures that are uplifting and encouraging but I especially like this one. It helps me to remember that each day is a gift from God and I should not take any day spent on earth for granted. It is very easy to forget all the many blessings one has when the grind of life starts to wear you down. That is when it is vital to take a step back, breath and look around you. If you have a roof over your head, food in your fridge and a car then you are already doing better than a majority of people in the United States and abroad.

I only need to look at my daughter to realize the goodness of God. She has so much joy and enthusiasm for each day. She hits the ground running and smiling and doesn't quit until it's bedtime. She makes me laugh by the funny things she says and her sweetness melts my heart. Watching her helps me remember just how much God loves me. He did trust her care to me after all. Giving me such a precious gift was a supreme act of love.

My husband and I have been abundantly blessed with great friends, the ability to travel, our wonderful daughter, our awesome parents, enough money to cover our needs and then some, cars that run, laughter and love. I know we have many other blessings too but they are too numerous to list. Sometimes I get caught up int he quagmire that can be day to day life and I forget all the God has done for me. That is when I have to say to myself "today is a day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it." no  matter how bad you think your life is, there is always someone out there who has it way worse.

I have been thinking a lot over the last few days about the small plan that crashed into lake Michigan earlier this last week. All the people on that plane where from my husbands home town. Only one man survived. Ken knew or was at least familiar with all the people on the plane. Many families are now mourning the loss of a friend or family member in that crash. You just never know when your life will change and become infinitely worse than you could ever imagine. that is why I am going to try to view everyday as a gift and be excited by what the day will bring, just like my little Sofie girl.

Once again I am reminded "Today is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24
